News from Local Congregations 

United Church UCC, Cookeville, TN welcomes their new pastor Paige Pearson. 

An article in April ith Herald- Citizen of Cookeville quoted Paige as saying that she likes 
to draw parallels between her work in health care settings and her new role as pastor. 
"In health care settings, as in the church, people walk through the doors seeking healing 
and hope... our church can provide a faith community for people who have been hurt in 
the past by other faith communities". Paige succeeds Tom Eckert, who served as the 
congregation's first pastor. They have just purchased the building in which they have 
been worshipping as tenants for several years. Paige is scheduled to be installed at a 
service on Sunday, July 26th at 3:00. 

First Congregational UCC, Atlanta, announced that they are seeking a full-time 
financial administrator responsible for the financial and accounting functions of the 
church. They are looking for a candidate with a master's degree in finance or 
accounting, or a minimum of five years experience in a nonprofit environment. For a job

First Church also has moved its worship location back from Morris Brown College to a 
community facility they own adjacent to their church. 

Pilgrim Congregational UCC, Chattanooga, has voted to be an EarthChurch. Olin 
Ivey, Associate for Stewardship and Outreach of the church noted that "this is a covenant 
relationship with our Creator God. Articles and additional information about this

Virginia Highland Church (A Baptist and UCC Congregation), Atlanta, is would 
like to organize a UCC Atlanta area contingent for a presence in the Gay Pride Parade 
in October. If interested please contact Andy McKinnon at

Brookmeade Congregational UCC member 
Lauryn Ross is teaching staff at the Mungeli 
Christian Hospital in India computer skills 
during her mission visit with them. See the 
attached picture. 



Central Congregational UCC, Atlanta, 

announced that it has made a contribution of 
$2,000 to the support of the TAP program from their endowment fund. 

Pleasant Hill Community UCC, TN, has just announced that they have made a 
contribution of $4,800 to the support of the TAP program. 

Church of the Savior, Knoxville, announced the publication of a significant resource 
for congregations who are seeking to "seek peace with our lives". Available to any 
congregation interested in developing their own witness for peace, it can be ordered by 
contacting Pastor John Gill at cosjbg@bellsouth.net. Church of the Savior also 
hosted a series of events concerning the death penalty, which involved UCC 
minister Joe Ingle, a member of Brookmeade Congregational UCC. Here is a link

We received word that during a time of pastoral transition, three recent TAP graduates 
supplied the pulpit at Midway Congregational UCC, Midway, GA. Deborah 
Robinson Dorothy Mosely and Sally Richardson. Congratulations to each for 
their ministry!
